Wide Zambezi bushveld at golden hour, acacia trees and open savanna at Mbada Estates

Zambezi · Est. on the bushveld

A country estate the bush grew into.

Mbada Estates is a country estate of lodges, waterways and protected bushveld — a place to fish at sunrise, drive the wildlife tracks, and camp under the acacia trees.

The estate

An everyday kind of wild.

Mbada Estates is a single country estate set on a long stretch of Zambezi bushveld, where the days are slow and the evenings belong to firelight. It was shaped to be escaped to — a retreat of lodges and camps where guests gather at the fire, anglers drift off the jetty, and guinea fowl pick their way across the road at dusk.

We have built carefully and modestly. Lodges sit among the trees rather than over them, and paths follow the contours the animals already use. Everything we add, we add gently — so that what brought you here is still here for the next visit, and the next season.

What you'll do

Days that fill themselves.

From the first cast on the lake to a quiet drive at sunrise, Mbada Estates is built around wildlife, water and time outdoors.

The bush on its own terms

Wildlife drives

The bush on its own terms

Drive the quiet tracks at dawn or dusk and let the estate reveal itself — impala, kudu, warthog and birdlife moving through the miombo at their own pace.

Fishing as the day's centrepiece

The lake

Fishing as the day's centrepiece

The estate's fishing lake is a natural meeting place — jetties, shaded banks and quiet water. Bring a rod and a flask, and stay until the herons come in to roost.

Protected woodlands, open to explore

Conservation area

Protected woodlands, open to explore

A protected conservation corridor runs through the estate, home to impala, kudu and smaller plains game. Drive or walk the trails, watch the bush wake up, and leave everything exactly as you found it.

Conservation

The land comes first.

Mbada Estates was planned around what was already here — the trees, the wildlife corridors and the seasonal flow of water. We manage the land with care and run our hunting and fishing on quotas set with conservation in mind.

We welcome partners who share that view: neighbours, conservationists and visitors who measure a place not by what is taken from it, but by what is left for the next season.

From our visitors

“First night under the acacias, the family were already asking when we could come back. Then the guinea fowl arrived on the table and nobody said a word — we were too busy eating.”

— Nob & Jes, holidayers since 2023
